Boeing Secures Major 737 MAX Order from Macquarie AirFinance
Boeing [NYSE: BA] and Macquarie AirFinance recently revealed a significant expansion of their partnership.
The aircraft leasing company has boosted its order for Boeing 737 MAX jets, adding 30 more 737-8 aircraft to its portfolio.
This order, finalized in July and previously listed as unidentified on Boeing’s Orders & Deliveries website, increases Macquarie AirFinance’s 737 MAX commitment to 70 jets.
Continued Market Demand for 737 MAX
The Boeing 737 MAX is a popular choice for lessors like Macquarie AirFinance due to its widespread use and cost efficiency. Approximately 30% of all financed airplanes globally are 737s, reflecting their strong demand.
This latest order strengthens Macquarie AirFinance’s ability to provide airlines with modern, efficient aircraft.
Eamonn Bane, CEO of Macquarie AirFinance, emphasized the strategic importance of this move. “This order is a key step in our growth plan,” Bane said.
“The 737 MAX combines excellent fuel efficiency, reliability, and passenger comfort. By adding these advanced aircraft to our fleet, we’re offering our airline partners sustainable, cost-effective solutions while supporting the future of global aviation.”
The 737-8 is highly versatile, capable of carrying up to 210 passengers and flying 3,500 nautical miles (6,480 km). The 737 MAX family helps airlines modernize their fleets. They cut fuel use and carbon emissions by 20% compared to older models.
These benefits make it an attractive option for airlines aiming to reduce costs and environmental impact.

Brad McMullen, Boeing’s senior vice president of Commercial Sales and Marketing, highlighted the significance of the order. “Macquarie AirFinance’s continued investment in the 737 MAX shows the aircraft’s value to lessors and airlines alike,” McMullen noted.
“Lessors play a vital role in providing flexible financing solutions for expanding single-aisle fleets.”
Currently, lessor orders make up nearly 25% of the 737 MAX order book. Boeing’s 2025 Commercial Market Outlook predicts a need for 33,000 new single-aisle aircraft over the next two decades. These will be needed to replace aging planes and meet rising air travel demand.
