Embraer Reaches Record US$26.3 Billion Backlog at Close of 2024
Brazilian aerospace giant Embraer (NYSE: ERJ) has announced a record-breaking US$26.3 billion backlog for the fourth quarter of 2024.
This impressive figure represents the largest backlog in the company’s history, demonstrating substantial growth of over 40% year-on-year and 16% quarter-on-quarter.
Embraer’s remarkable 2.2 book-to-bill ratio, an industry-leading achievement, underscores the manufacturer’s strong position in the market.
2024: Strong Deliveries and Growth Across Segments
Embraer’s delivery numbers further highlight its successful 2024. The company delivered 75 aircraft in the fourth quarter, a 27% increase compared to the previous quarter and matching the deliveries in the same period last year.
For the full year, Embraer delivered a total of 206 aircraft, a healthy 14% rise from the 181 delivered in 2023.
Commercial Aviation Maintains Momentum
Within Commercial Aviation, the backlog reached US$10.2 billion in Q4 2024. While this represents a 15% year-on-year increase, it’s an 8% decrease quarter-on-quarter. This is primarily due to the traditionally high volume of aircraft deliveries in this period.
The Commercial Aviation division delivered 31 aircraft in Q4 and 73 throughout the year. This full-year figure sits at the top end of revised estimates (70-73). This is within the original projected range (72-80). A robust 1.6 book-to-bill ratio for the segment further reinforces its positive trajectory.
A notable highlight in Commercial Aviation is Luxair’s finalized order for two E195-E2 aircraft. This order complements their existing fleet and brings their total order to six E195-E2 jets. It includes two secured options from a 2023 order.
Embraer now holds 179 firm orders for the E2 family and 164 for the E1-175. Looking ahead, Embraer aims to make significant progress with its production leveling initiative in 2025.

Executive Aviation Sees Record Backlog
Executive Aviation experienced exceptional growth, with its backlog skyrocketing to a record US$7.4 billion in Q4 2024. This represents a substantial 70% increase year-on-year and a 67% jump quarter-on-quarter.
This surge is largely attributed to a significant contract with Flexjet, encompassing 182 firm orders. The orders comprise the Phenom 300E, Praetor 500, and Praetor 600 aircraft, with deliveries scheduled from 2026 to 2030. The deal also includes options for up to 30 additional Praetor aircraft.
In Q4 2024, the Executive Aviation division delivered 44 jets, bringing the yearly total to 130. This full-year delivery number hits the midpoint of the original 2024 guidance. It marks a 14-year high for the segment.
The mid and super-mid-sized Praetor 500 and 600 models accounted for half of the quarter’s deliveries (22 jets), demonstrating the strong demand for this aircraft family.
The Phenom 300, a consistent bestseller in its category for 12 consecutive years, led the pack with 19 deliveries in Q4.

Embraer: Innovation and Global Reach
Since its inception in 1969, Embraer has delivered over 9,000 aircraft. Worldwide, an Embraer aircraft taking off every 10 seconds on average, transporting over 150 million passengers annually. Rounding out the top three aircraft manufacturers, Embraer’s global presence is undeniable.
As the leading manufacturer of commercial jets with up to 150 seats and Brazil’s primary exporter of high value-added goods, Embraer continues to be a key player in the aerospace industry.
The company’s record backlog, strong delivery numbers, and strategic focus in 2024 position it well for continued success in the coming year.
