Wizz Air Unveils New Airbus Airspace Cabin Configuration

Wizz Air has just announced a major leap forward in passenger comfort and accessibility. The airline’s first aircraft featuring Airbus’s cutting-edge Airspace cabin has arrived.

The Airspace cabin includes new features such as a unique lighting system, and new lavatories boasting a streamlined design. It also sees the introduction of braille signage throughout the cabin for visually impaired passengers.

The Airspace cabin configuration will become the standard layout on subsequent deliveries of Airbus A321neo and A321XLR aircraft to Wizz Air.

Airspace Cabin Configuration

The Airspace cabin is designed to transform the onboard experience. Passengers will immediately notice the difference, starting with the innovative lighting system. This dynamic system features multiple ambiance settings tailored to different stages of the flight.

Whether you’re boarding, enjoying a meal, relaxing, or trying to sleep, the lighting adjusts to create the perfect atmosphere.

Imagine a calming, warm glow during boarding, transitioning to a more focused light for dining, and finally, a soft, soothing light to encourage rest. This attention to detail ensures a more enjoyable and less stressful journey.

Modern Design and Enhanced Functionality

Beyond the lighting, the Airspace cabin boasts completely redesigned lavatories. A sleek aesthetic defines these modern spaces, and state-of-the-art amenities equip them. The layout maximizes comfort and convenience.

Another significant improvement is the reimagined overhead compartments. The streamlined design not only creates a more spacious and stylish look but also provides increased storage capacity. This means more room for passengers’ carry-on luggage, reducing the stress of finding space and speeding up the boarding process.

Wizz Air proudly holds the distinction of being the first European low-cost carrier to offer these enhanced overhead stowage compartments.

Accessibility Considerations

Wizz Air’s commitment to inclusivity shines through with the introduction of braille signage throughout the cabin.

Visually impaired passengers will now benefit from braille row number indicators and lavatory signage. This thoughtful addition demonstrates Wizz Air’s dedication to making air travel accessible and comfortable for everyone.

Michael Delehant, Senior Chief Commercial and Operations Officer at Wizz Air commented on the new configuration. “We are thrilled to introduce the Airbus Airspace cabin to our fleet, setting a new standard for passenger experience at Wizz Air.”

“This refreshed design, with its cutting-edge features and enhanced accessibility, represents our ongoing commitment to delivering the best possible journey for all travellers.”

This latest innovation solidifies Wizz Air’s position as a leader in the low-cost airline industry. Wizz Air operates a fleet of 227 Airbus A320 and A321 aircraft, carrying 62.8 million passengers in 2024.

Listed on the London Stock Exchange (WIZZ), Wizz Air has earned numerous accolades. This includes being named one of the world’s top five safest airlines by airlineratings.com and Airline of the Year by Air Transport Awards (2019 and 2023).

Industry organizations have recognized the airline’s commitment to sustainability. They presented the airline with awards such as “Most Sustainable Low-Cost Airline” (2021-2023), “Best Airline for Carbon Reduction” (World Finance Sustainability Awards, 2024), and “EMEA’s Environmental Sustainability Airline Group of the Year” (CAPA-Centre for Aviation Awards for Excellence 2024).

With the introduction of the Airspace cabin, Wizz Air continues to raise the bar for low-cost travel.
